The Master of Arts in Dance is a summer-intensive graduate program designed specifically for K–12 dance teachers who are looking to advance professionally. Through a blend of technique, choreography, pedagogy, and scholarship, this program helps you refine your practice, elevate your credentials, and deepen your impact in the classroom and the studio.
Courses are scheduled over three consecutive summer terms on campus at CSULB, with each session lasting six weeks. You’ll complete 9–12 units per summer (a total of 31 units) to graduate in just three years. Every course is intentionally designed to connect with your teaching experience through immersive study, movement, and connection.
Classes are held in large, well-equipped dance studios with natural light and plenty of space to move—providing opportunities to be inspired, supported, and re-energized. Return to your classroom each fall with new choreography ideas, culturally responsive strategies, and pedagogical tools that can be applied immediately in your work as an artist and educator.
Please Note: Although this program's next application term is Fall 2026, the first 6-week class session actually starts in June 2026.
